Kristen Nix borrowed it from her mom's closet for the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center's Santa's Elves event, where not quite dressy cocktail but something more than business attire was called for. This Style File winner had been coveting the dress from the moment her mother, Sheridan Williams, first purchased it in the Madison Avenue Store in New York last June. However, at the time, Nix was eight months pregnant. "So once I lost the pregnancy pounds," she said, "it was on the top of my list." (Baby Ryan is now 4 months old.)

Nix's open-toe Christian Louboutin pumps are from Neiman Marcus. The handbag is by Nancy Gonzales and was purchased at Bergdorf Goodman on that June shopping trip. "A plus," she said, "because I could 'fit' into it right away despite being very pregnant."
