Mongoose Versus Cobra
Just as the clever mongoose that defeats a deadly cobra is courageous, so are the owners of Mongoose versus Cobra for opening a craft beer and spirits bar in Midtown. Courageous for using an almost century old building and stocking that building with 40-plus taps of craft beers from international as well as domestic breweries. Courageous for using small batch liquors from craft distilleries. Courageous for having a very masculine interior design of mixed materials like brick, concrete, metal and dark wood. Courageous for serving a simple menu comprised of cheeses, breads, sausages and bar snacks. Their bravery must be commended, and the best way to do so is to drop by for a pint or a cocktail and raise your glass in honor of every mongoose (and every courageous bar owner) that has defeated the cobra.
The building's history dates back to 1915, when it was built to become the Auditorium Grocery Company.
