Bullbutter Bros. puts barbecue on the move

04.02.11 | 10:00 am

Considering how popular food trucks have become in Houston, it's not surprising that someone decided to create a barbecue truck. The only thing that's surprising it that it took this long.

Bullbutter Bros. Barbecue is the brainchild of George Shea and Jim Kanan, who will be serving beef brisket, pulled pork, house-made links, yard bird and something called "Bullbutter Balls" (please don't let them be rocky mountain oysters) made using a Southern Pride smoker, as well as traditional sides like baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad and even moonpies for dessert.

The 37-food truck hits the streets on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a premiere at the Menil Community Arts Festival. Bullbutter, whose owners have roots in Houston's arts community, will donate 30 percent of proceeds from the Menil Festival to the Southwest Alternate Media Project

After the Menil Festival, Bullbutter will be serving their Texas-style barbecue Wednesday through Saturday nights from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. next door to Laurenzo's at 4412 Washington Avenue.

After barbecue, are there any foods left that aren't on wheels? What are we missing?
