The Houston Modern Market preview: What you can't miss

02.23.12 | 11:20 am

Do you know what not to miss at the second annual Houston Modern Market?

On Thursday, Houston Modern Market will host a benefit screening and the Texas premiere of Modern Tide: Midcentury Architecture on Long Island at the River Oaks Theatre ($25).

The dress-up preview party on Friday ($50) gives the first taste of the weekend's festivities, with drinks, delicacies and live entertainment by Luxury Trio, plus a silent auction and the first chance at claiming one-of-a-kind pieces.

Throughout the weekend, attendees will shop the best in mid-century modern — furniture from Forma RevivoL + J IndustriesMetro Retro and Reeves Antiques; home and personal accessories by Space Montrose; original artwork by Xue Yang, and many more. Daily admission to the market at Winter Street Studios is $10.

Also on deck: Lectures and workshops, a presentation and book signing for Anna Mod's Building Modern Houston, a series of architectural tours ($25) and a Houston Art Scene cocktail party at William Reaves Fine Art on Saturday night.

Don your most mod outfit and join in. Proceeds benefit Houston Mod, and you might find mid-century gem worth taking home — or even learn something.
