Name: Teddy — as in Teddy Roosevelt, Teddy Kennedy, Teddy Bridgewater, Teddy Grahams, and Teddy Bear.

Birth date: June 19, 2015

Ethnicity: I'm a svelte 11.5-pound Terrier and Shih Tzu combo platter. I was a stray, now I'm in a holding pattern, circling to land in your forever home. I'm housebroken, obedient, a real people pleaser, easy goin' with children and other animals.

Come and get me: I'm available for adoption at 11 am Friday at Citizens for Animal Protection (17555 Katy Freeway; 281-497-0591). Tell them, "Ken sent me."

Teddy's telling: The other day I drove through my old Braes Heights neighborhood, just south of my current spring/summer residence in West University Place. My small, 2/2 house on Grennoch, which absorbed flooding during Hurricane Harvey, has been torn down. So sad. That was my first house in Houston and I had lots of fun in it. I put a floodlight in the backyard and we used to play basketball games until 2 am (the houses on both sides were vacant).

In its place, a huge semi-mansion, raised on pier and beam, is going up. Across the street, a stately four-lot villa is under construction. My old street is becoming a prestigious address.

First Bank of Shawn Mendes?
Tickets for teen pop star Shawn Mendes' upcoming concert at Toyota Center go on sale Friday, May 11. The ad on the Toyota Center website says the concert will take place "July 25."

Wow, somebody's going to make a lot of money in interest, holding on to $1 million in ticket sales for a couple of months. Wait, turns out the Shawn Mendes concert isn't until July 25...2019! The ad left out that little fact, you know, the year. That's about 14 months of free money for nothing. There oughta be a law or something. This is just plain wrong.
