Taking place on April 3, 1968, The Mountaintop is a gripping re-imagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted King retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel. A provocative maid arrives to seduce King, and the 39-year-old powerful leader must decide how to respond to this temptress and confront his fate.
The Mountaintop received the 2010 Olivier Award for Best Play and playwright Katori Hall won the 2011 Susan Smith Blackburn Prize.
