Close but no crown for Houston restaurateur in pork cook-off

The big regional pig-a-thon cook-off took place in Stillwater, Okla., over the weekend, and Scott Romano of Charlie Palmer restaurant in Dallas squeaked into first place by a hair on his chinny chin chin. Catalan's Chris Shepherd, featured in a CultureMap column on his attempt to win the Prince of Porc crown at the Cochon 555 contest, fell a little short. Shepherd was bitterly disappointed, but after returning to Houston, he felt better after a few Sea Breezes and dinner at London Sizzler in Sharpstown and awaits his next culinary challenge.
