Rice University tuition deemed inexpensive: Houston's Ivy League worthy college makes Best Buy list
No stranger to bang-for-your-buck accolades, Rice University has been named one of 20 "Best Buy" private schools in the United States, according to Fiske Guide to Colleges.
The 2014 ranking was based on academic rating, a tuition price in the inexpensive-to-moderate range and quality of on-campus student life.
Rice is praised as being "one of the few elite private colleges that keeps tuition relatively affordable" while staying "true to its mission of providing unsurpassed programs in science, engineering, the arts and humanities — with a price tag families can afford."
The guide also praises the football team (really) and a spirited student body (they must have heard about Baker 13) for bonus factors.
Trinity University in San Antonio also earned a spot on the list of private "Best Buy" schools while on the public side of things, the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University took top spots.
