No Texas Toast?
Move over: The Texas corn dog takes its rightful place among America's fattiestfoods
Let's face it, we're fat fatties.
We've just been named the 13th fattest state, and according to Health magazine, our corn dogs are to blame. Or something like that.
Health has dubbed the Texas corn dog one of the 50 Fattiest Foods in the country, joining such other delicacies of lard as Alabama's bacon-wrapped meatloaf, South Carolina's turducken and the Philly cheesesteak.
The cornmeal-coated dogs-on-a-stick were reportedly invented in Texas by brothers Carl and Neil Fletcher, whose family sell about 500,000 of the things every year at the Texas State Fair.
Health sums up the corn dog's damage at 19 grams of fat, 4 grams from the cornmeal crust alone.
I'm watching my waistline for summer, so I'll stick to something more reasonable — Texas Toast.
