Dancing death shocks Baylor: Future doctor killed in freak dance move accident
Baylor University's student body is grieving the loss of Kevin Signo, an 18-year-old pre-biology student, who died at a dance rehearsal over the weekend.
The Waco Tribune reports that Signo was practicing a traditional dance with the Filipino Student Association on Saturday night when he attempted a back flip and landed on his forehead, an accident that caused a fatal spinal injury.
Signo, a Frisco High School graduate, was taken to the hospital before 8:30 p.m. on Saturday and was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. Sunday.
Though the student's parents, Jackie and Henry Signo, had never seen their son perform a back flip before, they told NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth that the future doctor had a legal organ donation document drawn up so that he could help others "if something tragic . . . happened."
A visitation for Signo will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Turrentine, Jackson & Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday.
