It's no surprise that sexy costume purveyor Yandy.com does extremely well around Halloween. The company looked at last year's October sales — which totaled more than 95,000 costumes sold — and its findings were quite interesting, although perhaps unsurprising.
Although metro areas had the highest numbers of overall sales, when going by zip codes, it turned out that college towns were responsible for the greatest numbers of costume sales. Of the 11 zip codes which purchased the largest quantities of risque costumes from the site, 10 of them were in college towns (the only exception was Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood).

Buyers in each of the zip codes was very particular about which costumes they preferred most, with each choosing distinct costumes except for Arizona State University (No. 2) and Murray Hill (No. 11), which both favored the "Twerkin Halloween Costume" a la Miley Cyrus' 2013 VMA performance.
Texas State University in San Marcos came in at No. 5 on the list with the "Deadly Ninja" costume as the most frequently purchased from Yandy's site in that zip code.
The overall No. 1 zip code for the highest numbers of sexy costumes sold by Yandy was in Pullman, Wash., home of Washington State University, which preferred the "Spanish Pirate" costume over all others.
“To be honest, we were pretty surprised,” Chad Horstman, founder and CEO of Yandy.com, said in a statement. “Major population centers like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles were far and away the largest cities in terms of overall sales, but when we broke it down to specific zip codes, we saw Pullman sitting there at the top.”
According to Yandy's results, sales of the sexy pirate costume in the Pullman zip code were nearly four times higher than the average ratio in other zip codes.
Yandy's other top sexy Halloween costumes include:
- "Sexy Viking" at the University of Southern California (No. 3)
- "SWAT Hottie" at San Diego State University (No. 4)
- "Sexy Genie" at the University of Arizona (No. 6)
- "Fever Skeleton Tutu Dress" at Florida State University (No. 7)
- "Harbor Hottie" at UC Santa Barbara (No. 8)
- "Egyptian Goddess" at West Virginia University (No. 9)
- "Sexy Wolf" at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor (No. 10).
The "Twerkin Halloween Costume" was the most popular costume in zip codes for both Arizona State University (No. 2) and Murray Hill (No. 11).
