What: Spiked by the Scoop.

Where: Yellow Rose Distilling.

411: The heat was definitely on at the inaugural Spiked by the Scoop adult ice cream throwdown, and we don’t mean the tough competition.

The event, which benefited local non-profit Small Steps Nurturing Center, was held at Houston’s first legal whiskey distillery within city limits, sans air conditioning, but that didn’t stop the crowd of more than 350 attendees from sweating it out.

Thank goodness for the icy — and boozy – licks that saved the day. Seventeen of the city’s coolest culinary and cocktail teams competed for best tipsy scoop, putting a chilly spin on the evening with their drunken shakes, sundaes, sandwiches and the likes.

A panel of judges gave top honors to Peska Seafood Culture for its standout mango mezcal shake made with cardamom yogurt ice cream.

Other participants included: B&B Butchers and Restaurant, Brennan’s of Houston/Pura Vida Tequila, Christian’s Tailgate, Cordua Restaurants, Fat Cat Creamery, Fluff Bake Bar/Treadsack restaurant group, Karbach Restaurant, Mobile Mug, Ragin’ Cajun, Reserve 101, RICCA, Royal Sonesta Houston, Springbok, Honeychild’s Sweet Creams and People’s Choice Award winner, Sweet & Mellow, which floated guests’ boats with its frozen mint julep S’more served in a shot glass.

Who: Buzzed over the liquor-infused treats were partygoers including Alex Rosa, Mary Patton, Hasti Taghi, Michael Mandola, Lauren Dupuis, Ashley Garner, Alex Taghi, Jordan Frazier, Nik Solich, Vickey Piccirillo, Robert Teague and Molly Rivers
