The scoop: Teach for America founder Wendy Koop led the program remarks which included testimonials from corps members, alumni and the parent of a student whose education was enriched by the Teach for America experience. Among the 650 guests were Teach for America corps members (275 active in Houston today), alumni (1,400 live in Houston), education advocates and community supporters.

Alicia and Shawn Raymond, Suzanne and Bob Nimocks, and Camille Nimocks chaired the evening that honored long-time Teach for America supporter Josephine Powell Smith.
