This airy, light-filled space is an institution on Gallery Row where visitors get a feel for the heritage of contemporary Texan art and the bright future of the thriving Third Coast scene. Open since 1975, Moody Gallery is known for Houston’s finest collection of Texas-based artists and represents masters such as Lucas Johnson, Luis Jiménez, and Jim Love as well as rising talents Lisa Ludwig and Leandro Erlich. Many of their artists have been selected for the prestigious Whitney Biennial exhibitions, including 2006 Texas Artist of the Year Al Souza, known for his brilliant pop jigsaw puzzle paintings. And while you’re here, stroll up and down Colquitt and nearby Lake St. and stop in at the other top galleries in the neighborhood.
