Texas Wine School Wine Tasting Class: Wines of Champagne and Alsace
The two most northerly regions of France are most fascinating in that the difference in wine could not be more stark. Champagne — sparkling, cool climate and blended. Alsace — one of the driest regions in France and considerably warmer than its northern location would suggest, creates single varietal full bodied white wines.
This class will look into the differences that create such diverse wines, including climate, mountains, soil, grapes and culture, and will discuss how this translates into the taste and texture of the wine.
