Oops! He's alive! Dallas radio station falsely reports that George H.W. Bushdied, sends out an alert
A Dallas based radio station is apologizing — for erroneously reporting the death of former president George H.W. Bush.
WBAP, a news and talk station owned by Cumulus Media (the nation's second largest operator of FM radio stations), sent a breaking news email alert to listeners that featured a black and white picture of Bush superimposed over a waving American flag. Above it, a headline read “The Death of a President: George H.W. Bush.”
"Mr. Bush has not passed away,” the email read. “We sincerely apologize for this error."
However, the former president is indeed still alive, and his long time chief of staff recently released a statement to the national media urging everyone to “put the harps back in the closet,” as in Bush isn’t going anywhere.
The radio station sent another email a few moments later retracting its previous alert. "Mr. Bush has not passed away,” the email read. “We sincerely apologize for this error."
Bush has been receiving treatment at The Methodist Hospital since late November for a stubborn cough that followed an episode of bronchitis. A spokesperson says that he was moved to the intensive care unit and placed on a liquid diet due earlier this week due to a persistent fever.
