And To The Republic
'Outstanding' Houston chicken fried steak restaurant springs a new northside location
One of the Houston area's most outstanding chicken fried steaks will have a new home in 2020. The Republic Grille is coming to Spring's Harmony Commons development, owner Terry McBurney announced.
This new outpost will be the third location of The Woodlands-based comfort food restaurant, joining the original in the Panther Creek shopping center and a second location in the West Woodlands Terramont shopping center. For this location, McBurney purchased an almost one-acre tract that he will use to build a 6,000-square-foot, free-standing restaurant. Construction is scheduled to begin next month, with an opening slated for early 2020.
The Republic Grille has been a favorite in The Woodlands for more than five years. With a menu of Southern-inspired comfort food and a Hill Country ambiance, the restaurant works well for both area families and people looking for a more sophisticated option than a typical chain restaurant might provide.
In addition to a first-rate chicken fried steak, the menu includes a wide range of options from lobster crab cakes and steamed mussels to salads, pastas, and steaks. A full list of beverage options, including, wine, cocktails, and craft beer, helps make the restaurant a popular happy hour destination.
"In recent years, neighborhoods such as Harmony, Benders Landing, and Woodson’s Reserve have seen a tremendous growth in population, and we are pleased to be one of the first upscale, yet casual, dining options," McBurney said in a statement. "Being in such close proximity to Springwoods Village and the ExxonMobil campus also played a significant role in our decision to bring The Republic Grille to this area.”
