The historic Tremont House hotel in Galveston has weathered many a storm, but management decided that time and weather had taken its toll on The Rooftop Bar — it was time to revamp.

Tremont's Rooftop Bar is four stories above street level, and gives patrons truly stunning views of historic downtown Galveston and the harbor.

The old bar was less than cozy, with wrought-iron chairs and hard wooden benches.

That elegant but tough-to-sit-on-for-too-long seating has been replaced with beachy cushioned couches and chairs and wicker accents. Also new is an 8-foot illuminated manzanita tree.

The revamped Rooftop Bar makes the Tremont the only hotel in Galveston with an open-air rooftop patio. The Tremont building itself dates back to 1879. The refurbished bar is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 4 to 11 p.m.
