What: KNOWAutism launches its mission to aid children with autism.

Where: The Tasting Room at Uptown Park.

The 411: The non-profit, founded in April of last year by Tammy Tran Nguyen, is dipping its feet into the fundraising arena with its first gala, set for Feb. 12 at the Royal Sonesta Hotel. The recent gathering served to introduce the gala chairs — Perri Kay Palermo and Dr. Sippi Khurana — to a group that included medical and community leaders. Co-hosting the event with Nguyen were board directors Chase Oelkers, Chris Cardenas and Wayne Nguyen.

The goal of KNOWAutism is to raise awareness of Autism Spectrum Disorder and to serve as a resource for families affected by the condition. Outreach is particularly targeted to communities where language barriers could affect diagnosis and treatment.

Who: Cardiologist Dr. Lily Zhang, the Houston Texans' Dr. Michael Chang, Mandy Kao, Viet Hoang, Miya Shay, Corbett Daniel Parker, Reyne Hirsch, Ronda Suder, Stephanie Carrasco-Oshman and Judy Blake.
