Collaboration is the name of the game this week in Houston, as chefs mingle their talents to create great dishes for diners. There's a grand opening celebration in the shadow of Hurricane Harvey, and a one-year anniversary party with special bites and drinks. Those who love learning should check out what's happening at Sylvia's Enchilada Kitchen.

Truth Barbeque collaboration at Ramen Tatsu-Ya
Arrive early to grab some Smoked Shoyu Tonkotsu Ramen, made with pit-smoked shoyu, a slab of brisket, ajitama (marinated soft-boiled egg) and menma (bamboo shoots). Ramen Tatsu-Ya’s signature tonkotsu broth — a condensed pork bone broth that takes more than 70 hours to make — will be enhanced with shoyu (a type of soy sauce) smoked by Truth Barbeque's pitmaster-owner Leonard Botello IV and, of course, some of Botello's acclaimed brisket. The two entities have twice collaborated on this dish, resulting in long lines and happy diners. Don't miss this; it's available from 11 am until sold out.

Outdoor cooking with LeRoy and Lewis BBQ at Eight Row Flint
The team behind one of Austin's best barbecue joints comes to Houston to present a special menu inspired by chef Evan LeRoy’s recent trip to China. Their Chinese-tinged menu features tingling akaushi brisket from Beeman Family Ranch, char siu pork ribs from Peaceful Pork, ramen slaw, barbecue fried rice, and sambal-spiced cucumbers. It's available from 5 pm until it runs out.

Wednesday, August 21

Eat.Drink.Experience and Himalaya collaboration dinner at Brasil
Pop-up chef Alvin Schultz and Himalaya chef-owner Kaiser Lashkari will put their creative spin on Indo-pak, Mexican, and Southeast Asian cuisines at this multi-course meal. As of Monday morning, fewer than half the seats remain, so act fast to attend what's sure to be a memorable meal. Tickets ($100 plus tax and gratuity) are available by emailing info@eatdrinkexperience.com.

Thursday, August 22

Pop-Up Dinner with Philippe Gaston
The beloved chef behind Cove, Izakaya, and Kata Robata stops by before he departs for his European sojourn. Although the menu is still TBA, expect lots of creative cooking. The partying begins at 8 pm.

Friday, August 23, through Sunday, August 25

Grand Opening celebrations at Warehouse 72
Spaghetti Warehouse, the downtown restaurant destroyed by Hurricane Harvey's floodwaters, serves as the inspiration for this newly opened restaurant in the Marq*E Entertainment Center. The weekend features a series of festivities to celebration the new place. Diners have the opportunity to meet owner Doug Pak, executive chef Jaime Salazar, and mural artist Sebastien “Mr. D 1987” Boileau, whose work adorns the restaurant's walls. Feast on light bites while enjoying live screen printing, music, magic, and more. Find the complete list of events on Facebook.

The three-hour class concludes with everyone sitting down to eat. Class starts at 1 pm and costs $65 per person. Register online or call 832-230-3842.
