French Romantic author Victor Hugo was a master of offering up a little joy within tragedy. So it’s fitting that a bar named for the famed writer has announced it is shuttering, but not without a little party, first.

Chic Montrose spot Bar Victor has announced its closure via a Facebook post, one that also invites fans to enjoy a last romp:

This week-end will be the last one at Bar Victor. This fantastic journey wouldn’t have been possible without you! We want to give you a proper goodbye so come and enjoy Victor’s vibes one last time! Friday - Saturday 5pm-2am

Bar Victor's owners also provided CultureMap with the following statement:

Bar Victor had a great run in Montrose but our team is focusing on the success of sister French restaurant La Villa and our new Top Chef France finalist chef Kevin D’Andréa. Guests can still enjoy our handcrafted cocktails and Bar Victor’s lively DJs every Saturday on our patios for brunch at La Villa.

As CultureMap food editor Eric Sander reported, the stylish lounge replaced Zimm’s at 4321 Montrose Blvd. Owned by Frenchmen Vincent Sinard and Jean-Pierre Gleize, the bar brought a little joie de vivre to Montrose’s nightlife options. It was adorned with black drapes covering the windows, crystal chandeliers, and bright blue chairs and banquettes. The stylish room and cordial service made it a pleasant place for a drink; the Parisian flair made for a chilled-out experience, as it was a favorite of visiting international DJs.

Owners note that La Villa is open and adding lunch service starting April 24 (Wednesday to Friday from 11pm to 3pm) and an Easter brunch this Sunday.
