A family meal out turned into a shockingly tragic night thanks to a verbal argument that escalated into gunfire. A shooting at a Fort Bend County restaurant left one man dead and another man — his father — injured.

The shooting began around 11 p.m. Sunday night at Taqueria Regio in Arcola, located at 5243 FM 521, Fort Bend Sheriff's Office spokesman Bob Haenel tells KTRK Ch. 13.

The father and son were at the restaurant when they got into a verbal altercation with four other men. The suspects began firing at the father and son, leading to the son's death. His father was shot in the stomach and was immediately taken to an area hospital.

The cause of the argument and subsequent gunfire is still unclear. The shooting victim leaves behind a wife and four children. His father is reported to be in stable condition.

The suspects, who fled the scene following the killing, remain at large.
