The experts at Pantone swirl across the color spectrum to announce the Color of the Year for 2014: Radiant Orchid.

"An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones, 'Radiant Orchid' . . . is a captivating purple, one that draws you in with its beguiling charm," Leatrice Elseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, declares in a press release.

Watch for the rainbow of Radiant Orchid hues on runways showcasing the latest in women's and men's fashion and accessories to counters filled with blushing cosmetic palettes and even into the bath and bedroom with towels and linens. Color of the Year designation spills into the personal and home decor markets, too, including the paint industry. Even down to finger — and toe nail — polish.

"Radiant Orchid" follows Pantone's selection of emerald as the 2013 color of the year.
