This private liberal arts university is shrouded in leafy trees and insulated by the neighborhood, a quirky-cute area caught between Montrose and the Museum District. The campus was designed according to a master plan by noted architect Philip Johnson. His widely praised Chapel of St. Basil has a golden dome that reflects the setting sun. The campus also boasts world-class outdoor sculpture donated by the de Menil family of the neighboring Menil Collection. For students, the main attractions include the small class sizes and the many Houston cultural and entertainment venues which are within strolling distance.
