Onion Creek
|
This laid-back hangout is just about whatever you want it to be: a coffeehouse, lounge or just a relaxing spot to enjoy a simple meal with friends. Inside there are cozy sofa groupings, a small bar and several tables that overlook the deck porch landscaped with picnic tables that the neighborhood crowd sets its sights on like a bunch of heat-seeking missiles when it’s good weather. Food isn't usually the focus of patrons, although the hummus wrap is delicious as is the “Country Ass Ruben.” During crawfish season there’s a big kettle of the critters boiling in the parking lot and Wednesdays are steak nights with a tasty grilled ribeye accompanied by a baked potato. The real draw of Onion Creek is its friendly, semi-hippie atmosphere where worries seem to evaporate.
Onion Creek has spun off similar haunts Dry Creek and Cedar Creek in the Heights.
