Kemah Boardwalk
|
Now that Astroworld has gone on to the big funland in the sky, the Kemah boardwalk is the best spot in Houston for family-friendly fun you can enjoy without having to put on a bathing suit. Owned part and parcel by the Landry's restaurant group, the boardwalk features classic rides like a carousel, ferris wheel, giant swings, scary sudden-drop ride and a miniature train with rides available individually or with an all-day pass. Cuisines include seafood (Joe's Crab Shack, The Flying Dutchman, and the Aquarium, among others), Tex-Mex (Cadillac Bar), sushi (Red Sushi) and steak (Salt Grass Steak House). The shopping options are hokey tourist traps, but the frequent festivals and special events make it a fun outdoor option.
