This expertly assorted mixture of shops and restaurants is located just a few blocks west of that bastion of grand mansions and grander bank accounts, River Oaks, and a few blocks east of the Galleria. From the high-end-but-still-attainable camp you’ll find Crate and Barrel, Anthropologie (we love their furniture), Restoration Hardware and West Elm. From the nice-but-still-normal end, Highland Village is also home to a Victoria’s Secret and Banana Republic. On the upper end, there's Donald J. Pliner, Kiehl’s and a beefed-up Cole Haan store. A big yellow box of construction is filling out with Sprinkles Cupcakes and Paper Source as the first tenants, with an Apple store in its future. The shoppers are just as eclectic as the stores, so don’t be surprised to see couture tennis whites and discount denim mingling in the same parking lots.
It's often impossible to find a parking spot, so valet at one of the trendy restaurants like RA Sushi, P.F. Chang’s or Smith and Wollensky. Enjoy a tame cocktail or a bite to eat, head out on your shopping excursion and then circle back for another drink and to reclaim your car.
