We're never more bummed about the Cuban embargo and travel ban than after a meal at El Meson. A family-owned gem for almost 20 years, the menu keeps it mostly island-based with a few additions from Mexico and Spain. The seafood is always a fresh choice, and dishes are filled with traditional plantains, yucca, and raisins. For a flavorful lunch, try the solomillo, a pork tenderloin filet with garlic, olive oil and lemon juice served Cuban-style (with white rice, black beans and sweet plantains). Wash it all down with an ice-cold Bohemia Ale, or a selection from the notable wine list, and try not to dream of Havana back at the office.
In addition to the award-winning wine list, El Meson is known for their paella: it's well worth the 30-minute prep time.
