Even though its only a few blocks west of trendy and chaotic Highland Village, Kiran's can be easily overlooked since it's located in a bland brick office complex. But step inside and it's a different story. The interior, with a banquent-lined central space and reddish-brown side room, is beautiful and calming. Did we mention the food is excellent? Ambitious owner/chef Kiran Verma brings classic Indian cuisine to another level. In addition to standard Indian dishes, Verma emphasizes seafood, with dishes like tandoori Chilean sea bass and lobster tail, prawn bhuna and Goanese shrimp. Kiran's also boasts a sizeable wine list not normally found in Indian restaurants.
Not sure what to order? Try the multi-course tasting dinner (soup, two courses, sorbet, main course and dessert) for $75 per person. The weekly Saturday afternoon tea makes for a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours enjoying updated versions of the English classic.
