Kenneth Noland (1924-2010) was an American abstract painter and one of the best-known American Color Field painters. He became highly regarded for his simple colorful works of concentric circles (targets), stripes, chevrons and shaped canvases. In 1977, he was honored by a major retrospective at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
