Hop on a bike and take a ride through side streets, trails and residential areas in the heart of Houston. This is a social ride, and all levels of riders are welcome. The morning will begin with coffee at Onion Creek; then bikers will cruise through two to three markets to shop for fresh produce, sauces, jams and bread. This is a 12 to 15-mile ride that lasts about three hours, so bring plenty of water and a backpack to carry purchases.
Bikes can be rented from West End Bicycles for $25 per day (713-861-2271). Bayou City Outdoors will loan bikes to its members. Parking is not permitted at Onion Creek, so please find parking on the surrounding streets. RSVP by calling 713-524-3567.
At the ride on March 15, 2014, bikers will also take the bayou trail to downtown to watch the culmination of the Buffalo Bayou Regatta.
