Top women chefs prepare feast and female vets are honored at Dress For Success gala
It was all about women — and a few men behind the scenes — when Dress for Success held its 16th annual fundraiser at the nonprofit's home on Eastside. A coterie of female chefs prepared an international bounty for 300 guests and female veterans served by Dress for Success programs held the spotlight.
Kristy and Chris Bradshaw and Rebekah and Gary Reaves chaired the evening that included a video salute to the female veterans and their success stories. The video was created by Eniver, whose Stan Marrder along with Judson Design's Mark Judson were honorees, recognized for their work at creating the agency's new website and for its ongoing video production.
The evening's entertainment spread across two floors of the center with DJ Electrifyd spinning discs at ground level while cool jazz vocalist Myoa held sway over the crowd as they ascended to the second floor.
A Fare Extraordinaire's Karen Lerner and Paige Branam served as culinary coordinators for Ryan Bouilett and the otherwise all-female team of chefs. Donning their aprons for the evening were Clark Cooper Concepts' Brandi Key, Shade and Canopy's Claire Smith, Anita Jaisinghani and Mary Cuclis of Pondicheri, Rebecca Mason of Fluff Bake Bar, Samantha Mendoza of Triniti, Ja'Nel Witt of Corner Table, Annie Rupani of Cacao & Cardamon, Sabra Palmros of Smith & Wollensky, Nour Barazi of MacaronsByNour and Shannon McCracken of Houston Dairymaids.
Helping Dress for Success raise $400,000 were guests including emcee Mia Gradney, board chair Willie Stanfield and wife Rosa, Joan and Stanford Alexander, Marie Louise Kinder, Mary and Ben Patton, Virginia and Dan Steppe and Berthica Fitzsimons.
