Condoleezza Rice's candid conversation helps M.D. Anderson raise more than $1 million
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice spoke candidly on subjects ranging from Russian president Vladmir Putin to the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi during the seventh annual M.D. Anderson Cancer Center's "A Conversation With a Living Legend."
It was a standing-room-only crowd of 930 that packed the ballroom of the Westin Galleria Hotel for the evening that raised more than $1 million for the cancer center's Moon Shots Program.
Fox News senior political analyst Brit Humejoined Rice on stage where he handled the subjects that included Rice’s recent withdrawal as commencement speaker at Rutgers University.
Cyvia and Melvyn Wolff chaired the fundraiser that has saluted such "legends" as James A. Baker III, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith and Katie Couric. They were joined by dinner co-chairs Kelli Kickerillo and Todd Forester, who have signed on to chair the 2015 fundraiser. Serving as honorary chairs were Vicky and Harris Pappas.
The evening's program included remarks from Anderson president Dr. Ron DePinho and Dr. Christopher Logothetis, chair of Genitourinary Medical Oncology and co-chair of the Prostate Cancer Moon Shot.
All ears during the Q&A were Kelli and Eddy Blanton, Patsy and Greg Fourticq, Janet and Ernie Cockrell, Scotty Arnoldy, Denise Monteleone, Barbara and Charles Hurwitz, Joan Schnitzer Levy and Irwin Levy, Dr. Lynda Chin, Ginger Blanton, and Elyse Lanier.
