Health-conscious Houston sports bar arrives in Greenway Plaza
The Texans' time in the NFL playoffs may have come to an abrupt end, but Houstonians still have plenty of opportunities for watching sports. The top 10-ranked UH Cougars looked poised for another run in the NCAA Tournament, the Rockets are one of the NBA’s most-improved teams, and it won’t be long before the revamped Astros report for Spring Training.
Thankfully, Greenway Plaza residents and office workers have a new destination for catching every minute of the action. On the Kirb recently opened its fourth Houston-area location in the former Cafe Express/Valentina’s Tex-Mex Garage space at 3800 Southwest Fwy.
The bar is well equipped with three, 170-inch LED video walls and 25, 65-inch HD TVs. Even the patio has three TVs to ensure fans can catch all the action.
First opened on Kirby Drive in 2016, On the Kirb distinguishes itself from other sports bars with an ingredient-focused approach to bar food. All of its meat, dairy, and poultry are organic. Similarly, the restaurant uses tallow to fry items such as wings, Brussels sprouts, and fries, which is thought to have some health benefits over vegetable oil.
The menu also includes keto items, Neapolitan-style pizzas made with imported flour, burgers, wraps, and tacos. A weekend brunch menu egg skillets, pancakes, and avocado toast.
“With each location, we strive to bring the neighborhood sports bar hospitality with a health-conscious approach. We are excited to bring a lively sports bar and welcoming patio to the area mixed with a healthy menu to attract everyone from the businessman to the workout guru,” owner Joe Arbeely said in a statement.
