Have you tried the Capri Sun cocktail at BlackFinn? A wicked, head turning drinkwinks at adulthood
With two large dining rooms, an expansive saloon and an outside patio (dogs allowed), it's easy to get lost in the maze at BlackFinn American Grille, the new restaurant/bar in Midtown. Once we made our way to the saloon bar we settled in quickly, though.
There was already a good crowd at 5:30 p.m., and although the venue is laid back, the energy was high.
It may come with juice and taste like candy, but this throwback to childhood is 100 percent adult, made with a Pacific Coast Capri Sun plus Smirnoff, Triple Sec and cherry essence.
Perusing the cocktail menu, it was tough to pick just one, so under duress, we tried several. More than one is worth a mention. Here are our top picks:
The accompanying "garnish" of Capri Sun certainly caught our attention when we ordered The Head Turner. Created by mixologist Chris Funaro and executive chef John Turner (also the drink’s namesake), Capri Sun was the inspiration for — and is a key ingredient of — this fast favorite.

CultureMap's Caroline Gallay loves a good cucumber cocktail, and the cucumber-infused “Water” more than met her standards. A mix of Hendrick’s Herbal Cucumber Gin and white cranberry juice, you can’t even taste the alcohol. Similar to a lighter version of a Pimm’s Cup, this boozy spa drink may go down easy, but it will kick your ass if you don’t keep track of how many you down.
Although the bar bites are pretty standard, what is not standard is the quality. During happy hour — weekdays from 4 until 7 p.m. — you can choose from $6 items like nachos, chicken wings, flatbread pizzas and cheese sticks. We went for the barbeque chicken flatbread and, from the dinner menu, the lobster mac n' cheese.
Lobster with your Capri Sun? This is a place we could get comfortable.
