Buzzed-over West Ave newbie bar Saint Genevieve provides the sleek to our drinkof the week
With all the buzz surrounding the opening of Saint Genevieve, I stopped by to check out the new bar located on the second level of West Ave.
Brought to us by entrepreneurial brothers Jeff and Darren Van Delden — whose other ventures in town include The Red Door, Sawyer Park and Wonder Bar — the place didn't take long to catch on, and it was a packed house. While you'll certainly notice the crowd (perfect for people watching) and sleek interior, with dark wood and a large central white marble bar, don't forget to also take note of the specialty cocktail list.
I inquired, and I was not disappointed: The bartender had me at “Nutella."
Nutella Martini, that is. It tastes as good as it sounds. This vanilla vodka martini is rich, sweet and potent — sure to satisfy your sweet tooth and take the edge off.
And if breakfast booze is more your scene, Saint Genevieve offers a full build-your-own Bloody Mary bar. The poison and the antidote? That's some smart thinking.
Nutella Martini
3 ½ oz. Vanilla vodka
2 ½ oz. Frangelico
Garnish: Nutella and pretzels
