Dominique Sachse reveals premiere date for new morning show on Dr. Phil's network
The countdown is on for Dominique Sachse’s return to television. Morning on Merit Street will debut at 7 am on April 2, the star announced on Instagram.
As CultureMap has previously reported, the former Channel 2 anchor moved to Dallas in January to join Merit Street Media, a startup TV network founded by Dr. Phil McGraw. She’ll be joined by Fanchon Stinger, a 15-time Emmy Award-winning journalist.
Sachse has been previewing the show on Instagram and on YouTube, where she has almost 1.9 million subscribers. Earlier this month, she introduced viewers to her executive producer Andrew Scher as well as producers Sarah Joyner and Nicole Carter. Scher offered some insight on the show’s editorial direction.
“I feel like we've been doing a disservice to to America. Whether you watch a certain channel or a certain network, you're having your hosts and your producers steer you to a certain direction, whether it's to the left or to the right,” he said. “We don't want to do that. We’re all fact-based. We want people to to draw their own opinions on the topics that we're discussing, but we also want to do it an entertaining way. I've always said that people want to go to a party not a lecture.”
Merit Street also announced a new partnership with actor, comedian, and TV host Steve Harvey. CultureMap Dallas reports the deal includes a documentary-style special about his Steve Harvey Mentoring Program and the rights to air over 300 episodes of his talk show “Steve” that aired from 2017-2019.
Established in partnership with Trinity Broadcasting Network, Merit Street will Initially be available on a platforms including DirecTV, YouTube TV, and through Merit’s app and website. The network’s website urges subscribers to other services to request the channel.
