Houston Astros release limited tickets for Game 2 of the ALCS at Minute Maid

You just know Breggy will be ready today.

Houston is reeling from the Astros 2-0 Game 1 ALCS loss to the Texas Rangers last night (Sunday, October 15) at Minute Maid Park. While ace Justin Verlander, sluggers Alex Bregman, José Altuve, Jeremy Peña, Chas McCormick, and Mauricio Dubón had respectable outings, we must (grudgingly) tip our blue and orange hats to pitcher Jordan Montgomery and the Rangers.

The Astros are clearly ready to even up the series today (Monday, October 16) during Game 2 at Minute Maid. Fortunately for fans, the Astros and Major League Baseball have just released a limited number of seats for today's game: first pitch is at 3:37 pm.

A quick skim of the official Astros ticket site reveals options such as SRO (Standing Room Only) seats starting at $129, singles seats in Section 410 at $139, single seats in Section 413 around at $153. Closer in, dugout area seats in Sections 112, 113, 116, 122, 126, 128, and 129 start at $339.

Meanwhile, tix at seller SeatGeek range from $28 (SRO) to $603 (Section 124, Row 7). Be warned: MLB and the Astros reserve the right to cancel and refund any ticket purchased for the intent to resell.

Those who can arrive early today can head to the Astros Street Festival for game day ticket holders, which opens at 12:30 pm. Expect food, games, and plenty of activities right on Crawford Street.

Sadly, despite the insanely lovely weather Houston is experiencing, Minute Maid's roof will actually be closed today, per the Astros and MLB.

The roof will be closed today for Game 2 of the ALCS.

Be sure to grab an orange towel and roar when country artist Clay Walker performs the National Anthem and ice-in-his-veins pitcher Framber Valdez takes the mound. (We're not here to jinx, but it should be noted that Valdez is 7-3 in 14 postseason career appearances.)

Here's a quick reminder of the Astros-Rangers ALCS playoff schedule:

    • Game 2: Rangers at Astros, Monday, October 16, 3:37 pm
    • Game 3: Astros at Rangers, Wednesday, October 18, 7:03 pm
    • Game 4: Astros at Rangers, Thursday, October 19, 7:03 pm
    • Game 5: Astros at Rangers, Friday,October 20, 4:07 pm
    • Game 6: Rangers at Astros, Sunday, October 22, 7:03 pm
    • Game 7: Rangers at Astros, Monday, October 23, 7:03 pm
The fun at Minute Maid doesn't end after the Astros hit the road for Arlington for Games 3, 4, and 5. Fans who aren't traveling to the games can hit the Astros Official ALCS Watch Parties at Minute Maid.
Wave those rally towels and catch the games on the big screen, and enjoy all the action and festivities around the ballpark, including live music, caricature artists, face painters, games, food trucks, and more. Gates open two hours before first pitch each game day. (Find game schedules here.)
Vouchers for these ALCS Watch Parties are just $2 and must be claimed online. Voucher purchases benefit the Astros Foundation.

As for today's Game 2 showdown, score those tickets, tell the boss you're at a dentist appointment (we kid!), don that orange, and get ready to scream for the Stros as they remind the world that they're #Ready2Reign.

Airbnb pledges over $1 million to improve Houston before World Cup

According to a Deloitte study commissioned by short-term rental company Airbnb, roughly 30,000 people are expected to stay in Airbnb properties during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With that in mind, the company has pledged over $1 million to various improvement projects in Houston as part of their Host City Impact Program.

“Hosting a global event like the FIFA World Cup in Houston is a generational opportunity for our city," said Chris Canetti, president, FIFA World Cup 26 Houston Host Committee at a press conference on Tuesday, December 2. "It’s so much more than a game — it’s about honoring our city and the people that make it great. In Houston, we’re proud to be working together with Airbnb to ensure these benefits are felt far beyond the games, investing in projects that will leave our city better off for generations to come.”

The $5 million Host City Impact Program is a partnership between Airbnb and FIFA to foster community spaces in places that host events like the World Cup. In Houston, their contribution will go toward two major projects.

First, the Green Corridor, an ambitious 14-mile sustainable transit loop that will connect the FIFA Fan Festival in East Downtown (EaDo) and NRG Stadium where the game will be held, as well as meandering through various neighborhoods. Not to be confused with the Green Loop project, this pedestrian path will feature interactive maps, water refilling stations, and shaded walkways that will hopefully reduce traffic congestion around the World Cup by promoting walking spaces.

The second project is Grow the Game, an initiative to renovate soccer fields and increase access to play across the city, particularly in underserved neighborhoods. It will also fund youth tournaments and clinics.

"Hosting the FIFA World Cup 2026 is a historic milestone for Houston, and as leaders from the private and public sectors, we have a unique opportunity to partner and ensure its benefits reach every corner of our city," added Houston City Councilmember At-Large Julian Ramirez. "Projects like the Green Corridor will make Houston more accessible and inviting, connecting neighborhoods and expanding green spaces for all. At the same time, initiatives like Grow the Game will give local kids the chance to get on the field, build skills, and be part of something special. With Airbnb’s investment, we can create a legacy that makes Houston more desirable, equitable, and vibrant for all.”

As the World Cup nears, the Greater Houston Area is undergoing several different transformations. In addition to the Green Corridor, Sugar Land opened a Social District last month to make it easier for visitors to party in the city's Town Square district.
