Jul 4, 2011 | 11:20 am
UPDATE 11:30 a.m.: Highway 290 eastbound has reopened to traffic and is flowing smoothly. A missing chunk in the road, between six to eight inches deep and one lane wide, appears to have been filled in with asphalt. It is unclear at this time what caused the concrete chunk to break loose.

Channel 13 reports that Highway 290 eastbound is closed between Mangum Road and the 610 Loop because the road has buckled. The Mangum entrance ramp is closed and traffic is being diverted at the Mangum exit.
Drivers are advised to re-enter the freeway on the eastbound side of the 610 North Loop or the 18th Street entrance ramp to the 610 West Loop.
