Glamorous A-list magazine hits Montrose for an eclectic-cool time
When it comes to mapping the A-list global destinations, there's no magazine with a taste as uniquely old-money as Departures.
So it's quite a coup for Houston's Montrose neighborhood to appear in the pristine pages of the July/August issue between an elephant safari in Botswana and a guide to sailing in Turkey.
Referring to Montrose as "intimate, historic and defiantly eclectic," Departures name drops the local bonafides — The Menil Collection, Da Marco, Rothko Chapel — while shining a spotlight on the new kids on the block.
On the list? Men's clothier Mortar, art-shopping hybrid Peel Gallery, the revamped La Colombe d'Or, curated reads from Domy Books and meals at Canopy, Feast and the spanking-new Ocean's.
Watch yourself, Montrose: Looks like under that indie façade, you've got some glam going on.
