Fat Tuesday's can't miss events: The Mardi Gras fun is not limited to New Orleans
Who says one has to gallivant off to the Big Easy to partake in Fat Tuesday festivities? Houston has enough "N'awlins" spirit to kindle a fete fitting for the launch of the 40 days of penance known as Lent.
For believers, Mardi Gras is the last hurrah of sinful partying before one submits to a period of fasting and abstinence in preparation for Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Houston establishments and their krewes, in an effort to provide that necessary outlet, don't disappoint.
CultureMap contributor Nicole Hickl breaks it down with Great Day Houston host Deborah Duncan. Hickl talks about where to be and what to do to observe this most pious holiday. Amen.
Among her suggestions are a tour on Buffalo Bayou's pontoon boat, a party at BB's Cajun Café, a free concert at House of Blues, a family-friendly outing at Rice Farmers Market, oysters galore at Caracol and a wicked menu at Brennan's of Houston.
