Bizarre Rambo burglar preys on tony Memorial homes, hits conservative talk show host
Police in the tony Memorial Villages are on the hunt for a bizarre burglar who decks himself out in Rambo-style garb to strike houses near the wooded shores of Buffalo Bayou.
Area resident Edd Hendee — a conservative radio host and owner of the Taste of Texas steakhouse — captured surveillance footage of the thief on Valentine's Day as his home sat empty as he made a trip to Alabama to pick up a friend who had been stranded on the Carnival Triumph.
"We're thinking he comes into the area covertly, either along the Bayou or on a trail. Let's face it, you're not going to just walk down the street in a costume like that."
Judging from Hendee's recording, the mystery man has a penchant for T-shirts and cargo pants that he tucks into a pair of military boots. He sports a type of large holster around his waist, although the video remains too blurry to see exactly what he's carrying.
"I'm not totally convinced he's armed," interim Memorial Villages Police chief Roy Osborne says "But you can never be certain, of course."
Investigators believe the man is involved in two other nearby burglaries that occurred that same Valentine's evening. He appears to be taking easy-to-grab valuables and has little prior knowledge of the homes.
"We're thinking he comes into the area covertly, either along the Bayou or on a trail," Osborne explains. "Let's face it, you're not going to just walk down the street in a costume like that."
According to the police chief, Rambo man has been spotted on surveillance video throughout Harris County and could be linked to additional incidents. Investigators are following a lead at this time.
