Gwen Stefani's fashion comeback: L.A.M.B. collection features ska-meets-SoCal style & dancing models

NEW YORK — After a three-year hiatus, Gwen Stefani returned to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in her unique way. Rather than put on a traditional runway show for her L.A.M.B. spring 2015 collection, the pop superstar, whose profile has grown a lot bigger lately since she recently joined The Voice, showcased the collection atop a bar featuring models with feathers in their hair swaying to a tribal beat while large images of a multimedia fashion film flashed on surrounding walls.

It's a cool collection that's more mature than previous efforts — after all it's the brand's 10th anniversary and Stefani now has three children, including a son born six months ago.

It was a little bit like being trapped inside a music video.

Yet it was a refreshing way to get a good glimpse of the collection, which reflects Stefani's laidback ska-meets-SoCal style.

She peppers the collection, which she calls the "New Nomad," with tops, loose pants and even totes in multicolor brushstroke prints of hot orange, aqua and black. Halter dresses in batik prints and sleeveless print maxi dresses reflect a languid style while colorblock black-and-white jumpsuits and fuchsia stretch slacks with a black-and-white track top exude a more urban attitude.

It's a cool collection that's more mature than previous efforts — after all it's the brand's 10th anniversary and Stefani now has three children, including a son born six months ago. But there are still plenty of separate pieces, along with some nifty footwear, like spiky wraparound stilettos, for the girl who still just wants to have fun.

Here's a snippet from the presentation. As you can tell, some of the models could dance better than others, as I captured in this short video:

Kendra Scott is bringing Western flair to Houston with the grand opening of the first Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott in the Heights. This concept is an extension of the jewelry designer's beloved brand, featuring a stylish mix of Western-inspired jewelry, hats, boots, bags, apparel, and accessories.

Since launching the brand extension in 2023 with a flagship store in Austin, Scott has made a move to complete the Texas trifecta by opening Yellow Rose stores in Dallas and Houston. The Heights Mercantile location, which opens on Friday, February 21, marks the brand's third Yellow Rose outpost and 150th store. Scott moved to the Houston area as a teenager, making the Bayou City a meaningful part of her journey.

"The Houston community is incredibly special to me, and I couldn't be more excited to bring Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott to the Heights," said Scott in a statement.

The latest outpost features both rugged and romantic decor inspired by life on a ranch. The store is curated to give shoppers a one-of-a-kind experience and showcase Scott's love of Texas. Much of the decor comes from Scott's personal finds, including an antique jewelry case and horse stools from Round Top. Large, colorful rugs, pillows, and framed art give the space a cozy, lived-in feel. A custom mural installation by artist Kyle Bunting welcomes guests as they enter, and a neon sign by Neon Jungle adds to the fun vibe.

With Yellow Rose, Scott has strived to put a modern and eclectic twist on Western wear. A portion of proceeds from every purchase of Yellow Rose by Kendra Scott is donated to Nest's Women of the West fund that provides mentorship, coaching, funding, and peer support for the next generation of U.S. artisans, makers, and entrepreneurs in the American West.

In addition to the Yellow Rose brand, the outpost features a carefully curated range of products, including Yellow Rose x Wrangler Denim, Arloom, HBarC, Three Sons, Daydreamer, Juan Antonio Leather, Calyton & Crume.
