Houston Ballet young professionals gear up for fall season with burlesque fun
Little more than a week before the curtain rises on Houston Ballet's fall season, young professional balletomanes put in a playful night at Prohibition Supperclub & Bar for a sneak preview of the spot set to open next month and for a bit of rah-rah in support of Ballet Barre.
Hannah Lonergan and Mary Patton chair the ballet's YP organization that is all about loving the dance and meeting like-minded urbanites.
On this night, styled to encourage membership, more than 125 members and guests mixed and mingled with Houston Ballet stars including principal dancer Connor Walsh, soloist Oliver Halkowich and fist soloist Jessica Collado.
Adding spice to the night were a handful of Prohibition's costumed dancers, gearing up for their bawdy roles once the curtain goes up on the supper club. Prohibition chef Ben McPherson and bar manager Lainey Collum made star turns as well.
The kick-off was just the start of Ballet Barre's full season the includes ballet performances, parties, artistic events and the Oct. 14 Ballet & Bubbles event for which Houston Ballet director Stanton Welch conducts a final rehearsal for the YPs as the champagne flows.
Getting an early start on the ballet fun were Ting Bresnehan, Crystal Wright, Whitney and Harrison Bolling, Ben Patton, Grace Salinas, Diana Cammarata, Stacey and Parker Hewitt, Ben Patton and Candace Thomas.
