Texas' longest bar
Houston's most popular modern ice house opening near the Heights
Houston’s most popular patio bar is opening a new location near the Heights. Kirby Ice House has revealed plans for a fourth location that’s expected to open in fall 2025.
Located in Shady Acres at 1421 North Loop West, the new Kirby Ice House will occupy 24,000-square-feet — 12,000 indoors and 12,000 outdoors — on a 3.5 acre property. That will give it the most indoor seating and largest covered patio of any Kirby Ice House location. Similarly, the new location’s 146-foot-long bar will be the longest in Texas, surpassing the 141-foot bar at Kirby Ice House’s location in The Woodlands.
Drink options will start with more than 50 beers on tap along with wine and cocktails. Plenty of TVs will ensure that patrons can follow all of their favorite teams. Food will come from a rotating selection of trucks.

“We’re excited to bring Kirby Ice House to the Heights, where we aim to cultivate a welcoming atmosphere that fosters a sense of togetherness in the community,” Kirby Ice House COO Michael Johnson said in a statement. “Kirby Ice House Heights will be the perfect spot for social gatherings with friends and colleagues, watching sports, spending time with your pup or simply unwinding.”
Opened in 2016 in the Upper Kirby District, Kirby Ice House’s combination of a casual atmosphere, a fully landscaped backyard with lawn games, and an extensive drink selection has made it one of Houston’s highest-grossing bars. It opened a Memorial location in 2020 and a Woodlands outpost in 2022. Recent personnel additions have primed it for even more growth.
