Prada's rabbit trick: Two-for-one collection multiplies, with quirky looks for both sexes
The recent Prada runway show featuring the spring 2016 menswear collection in Milan came with a twist — nearly half the models were women. And while many of the looks are unisex, there are a lot of quirky clothes that will individually appeal to both sexes.
Designer Miuccia Prada actually showed her women's resort 2016 collection alongside the men, so there truly was something for everyone.
Images of race cars, rockets, eyeballs and arrows also lent a Pop art vibe to the collection.
The coed affair was marked with a lot of images of rabbits — knitted onto men's wool sweaters and ladies' snakeskin jumpers. Images of race cars, rockets, eyeballs and arrows also lent a Pop art vibe to the collection.
For men, risque short shorts — at micro-lengths not seen since the '70s — are featured, some in colorful leather and paired with plunging tanks. More conventional are sport jackets with contrasting stitching, flowy silk shirts, loose topcoats and geeky two-tone jumpsuits that look like something Sheldon or his cohorts might wear in The Big Bang Theory. Of everything shown for next spring, we most crave the track shoes with a contrasting stripe that are perfect for stylish racing around.
The women's looks seem to have more fun with a punk edge as dresses were adorned with heavy chain straps or shiny plastic discs and skirts featured open circles rimmed in metal.
