Modular Man Joshua Martinez plans ramen noodle shop: Let the downtown re-revitalization begin!
Well, the cat's out of the bag . . . After months of keeping its location a secret, recent articles on Joshua Martinez' Goro & Gun appear to place the forthcoming ramen shop at 306 Main between Congress and Preston.
With ramen fever gripping every major American city for years now, the Bayou City has been late to the Japanese noodle party, leaving local foodies scratching their heads as the Houston culinary scene continues to garner national recognition.
Martinez will be the first to throw his hat into the ramen ring and he's brought some heavy-hitters to ensure it makes a lasting impression.
Martinez, owner of the popular The Modular food truck, will be the first to throw his hat into the ramen ring and he's brought some heavy-hitters to ensure it makes a lasting impression.
Brad Moore and Ryan Rouse of Grand Prize/Big Star fame are signed on as business partners, while former Katsuya chef David Coffman and Revival Market alum Matt Wommack are set to run the kitchen.
Martinez did not immediately return requests for comment about the new restaurant.
Eater released a series of interior photos on Monday showing a narrow space with original vintage tile and exposed brick walls. The owners hope to accommodate roughly 65 guests at tall tables, banquettes and a long bar. A full liquor license has been approved, so expect cocktails along with craft beer and saki.
Thanks to Moore and Rouse, Downtown's Market Square Park area is shaping up to become one of the city's newest food and drink destinations. The duo helped make OKRA's Charity Saloon a reality in December and have a bar project with cocktail hero Justin Burrow scheduled to open next door to Goro & Gun in late March.
