Hand Doc Estate Sale
Michael Brown estate hits the auction block with items as eccentric as the late hand doc himself
In the first of four weekend events, auctioneers will begin selling off high-ticket items from the estate of Michael Brown — the notorious carpal tunnel surgeon who passed away at a Miami hospital in November following an alleged suicide attempt.
As part of an ongoing bankruptcy case involving the now-shuttered Brown Hand Center, Webster's Auction Palace in north Houston will offer household objects as eccentric as the headline-making doctor himself.
Buyers can bid on everything from ornate Italian furniture and an antique Murphy bed to stately bronze lion statues and a seven-foot wooden sculpture of a Native American chief.
Other highlights include a pair of alligator skin director's chairs, a rhinestone-covered tricycle and a full set of gold and aluminum luggage.
Auctions on Jan. 12 will feature an array of vehicles and kitchen items such as a vintage ice-cream maker and a personal slushy machine. Auctioneers will unload Brown's 97-piece gun collection on Jan. 19 and end the auction series with more household items and art on Jan. 23.
Doors at Webster's Auction Palace (14463 Luthe Road) open at 11 a.m. on Sunday for a preview session. The auction begins promptly at 1 p.m.
