Where are the best places in Texas to raise a family? The suburbs of Houston, it appears, along with a smattering of other Texas cities.

Niche, a website that aggregates reviews about neighborhoods and schools, determined the Lone Star hot spots by looking at a variety of family-friendly factors, such as public schools, cost of living, family amenities, and real estate. Fulshear and Cinco Ranch, both near Houston, claim No. 8 and 9 in the rankings.

El Lago came in at No. 20, Atascocita ranked No. 27, Pearland came in at No. 30, Sienna Plantation at No. 32 and Friendswood at No. 33. Other Houston-area suburbs in the Top 50 are Greatwood (35), League City (39), The Woodlands (41) and Seabrook (46).

Austin suburbs West Lake Hills and Rollingwood take the No. 1 and No. 2 spots,  and a number of lauded Dallas suburbs populate the top 10. Murphy, Allen, and Frisco finish out the top five, each earning an excellent A-plus for public schools and an A-minus for family amenities. Aledo, just west of Fort Worth, snags the No. 6 spot.

Coppell comes in at No. 7 and University Park ranks No. 10. They both score an impeccable A-plus for public schools too.

On a national scale, West Lake Hills is the 13th best place to raise your kids, and next-door neighbor Rollingwood ranks No. 24. Murphy, Allen, and Frisco also appear in the top 50.
