If you walk into Coquette Boutique and Bistro and aren’t sure what to buy, head to the dressing room first. There’s some direction from a certain waify supermodel. “What would Kate wear?,” drips down the wall and into a shopper’s subconscious. And, if that doesn’t help, perhaps a chat with the onsite psychic will. Coquette’s flirty little touches are everywhere, from the in-store bistro (Krafts'men Bistro to be exact), couches and Wi-fi and of course, the clothes. Owner Aries Milan is partial to Australian designers such as Sass & Bide and Alice McCall as well as the modern yet girlie line, Francis by Christian Francis Roth. Tables laden with Dayna Decker candles and accessories dot the space which Milan wants to feel like a chic Parisian hangout during the day and a speakeasy by night.
Milan updates the store’s Facebook page to announce after-hours parties for those in the know.
